What Is There For Me To Do In Ballooning?
Ballooning is a very social sport that involves people in every aspect. Whether you would rather stay on the ground and be a spectator, help the pilot by becoming a crew person, or even becoming a pilot--THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IN BALLOONING!
How Safe Are Hot Air Balloons?
Hot Air Ballooning is regulated in the same fashion as any other aircraft. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) keeps a close watch on balloon pilots, just as they do to airplane or helicopter pilots. To get a "Lighter-Than-Air" pilots license, there is a lot of intense training involved that includes ground school, a written test, an oral test, flight time, crew time (preferred), and a check ride (administered by a FAA Designated Examiner).
